Although they take us places and fit into the most uncomfortable pairs of shoes, our feet never get the appreciation that they deserve. Sure, you step into the salon for a pedicure every couple of months but you’re on your feet far, far more than that. So isn’t it time to give your feet the pampering they deserve? And no, we aren’t telling you to check into a salon for it. There’s a way to do it that’s simple and wallet-friendly-it’s a DIY pedicure. So the next time your dogs are barking, head to your kitchen and try this out.

Rose water

From the time of ancient Egypt, the rose has been used to beautify the skin and revitalize it. You too can use it in the same way to treat your feet. Combine half a cup of cold water with a quarter cup of rose water and a handful of rose petals. Mix them together and fill in a bottle with a spritz dispenser. Whenever your feet are tired and need a hint of freshness, a few spritzes of this will do the trick.


If sweaty, stinky feet are your biggest worries, then opt for a peppermint foot soak. In a basin of warm water, add 5 – 6 drops of peppermint oil and soak your feet in it for 20 minutes. Not only does this minty fragranced oil soothe tired muscles, it also works as an anti-microbial agent to kill fungus and bacteria.


After years of wearing strappy sandals without sunscreen, don’t be surprised to find your feet dry and dark. Thankfully, you can turn this around with a little help from your friend, oatmeal. Mix 3 tablespoons of oatmeal with 2 tablespoons of milk and gently scrub this mixture all over your feet. Soothing milk and exfoliating oatmeal work together to remove roughness and soothe any irritation.

Milk cream

Milk cream is a wonderful skin care secret that brightens, moisturizes and soothes the skin to no end so why not use it to treat dull dry feet? Combine 3 tablespoons of milk cream with 2 teaspoons of honey and apply it over your feet till your ankles. Let it dry for 20 minutes and wash it off with warm water – Voila! Healthy, happy feet!

Olive oil

Last but not the least, give your feet the moisturization they fully deserve. For that, just turn to your olive oil bottle. Apply 3 – 4 tablespoons of it generously over your feet, massage it into your toes and joints and leave it on overnight. Olive oil is filled with hydrating agents and antioxidants which will nourish your feet and repair any skin damage.
